Regular Cleanings

Most of us know that in order to enjoy good oral health, we need to maintain an oral hygiene regimen each and every day at home. This includes brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once a day. But just brushing and flossing at home isn’t enough to ensure good oral health. No matter how diligent you are about your at-home dental care, you’ll never be able to remove all the plaque and tartar that build up on the tooth surface and under the gum line. Only your dentist and dental hygienist can do that. Dr. Reddy encourages all of our Hutto, TX, area patients to visit our office for regular cleanings and dental exams.

What’s Involved in Professional Regular Cleanings

When you visit our office for regular cleanings and dental exams, you can expect that some or all of the following procedures will be done:

• A visual examination of your teeth and gums by Dr. Reddy and your hygienist
• Oral cancer screening completed by Dr. Reddy (when necessary)
• X-rays (when necessary)
• Thorough cleaning and polishing of your teeth
• Measurements taken of the depth of gum pockets that form around teeth (when necessary)

Of course, every patient is different, which means that Dr. Reddy and our staff may perform other checkups or procedures as necessary, depending on the current condition of your teeth and gums.

Fluoride Treatments

If you or a family member are experiencing problems with cavities, Dr. Reddy and the staff at Best Smiles Dental wants to remind you that we offer in-office fluoride treatments to our patients. You may think that fluoride treatments are intended only for children, but the fact is that any age patient can benefit from fluoride treatments. Not only does fluoride help fight against cavities, it also helps to make your teeth stronger and can even help to make your teeth less sensitive to hot and cold food and drinks.
